Short film contest
Are you an aspiring filmmaker? FLORIDA TODAY is looking for short films no longer than 90 seconds.
The director or producer of the film must be a Brevard County resident or a graduate of Brevard County high schools.
We'll be accepting films in three categories:
Films must be received by FLORIDA TODAY no later than 5 p.m. July 31.
1. Each film must
be 90 seconds or less and delivered in MPEG2 (standard DVD) or QuickTime format
copied to DVD or CD. Submissions can be mailed or dropped off at the FLORIDA
TODAY main office, along with the entry form below. No e-mailed submissions will be accepted.
2. There is no age limit, but the director or producer of the entry must be a Brevard County resident or graduate of a Brevard County high school. Anyone younger than 18 must have written permission from a parent or guardian to participate. Each entrant must sign a release form stating that the film is the entrant's own work and that it was created in 2009.
3. Filmmakers retain the copyright to their movie, but must grant FLORIDA TODAY permission to show the work on floridatoday.com and other media for promotional purposes as FLORIDA TODAY sees fit.
4. If you use music, it must be royalty free; you must own the
copyright; or you must get permission from the music's creator to use it.
5. Films with sexual content or that depict harm to people or animals will be disqualified at the discretion of FLORIDA TODAY.
6. FLORIDA TODAY readers will vote for winners in each of the three categories, then will chose a "best in show" from the three category winners. Critics’ choice award(s) will be chosen by film professionals. Winning films will be shown at the Melbourne Independent Filmmakers Festival.
7. Filmmakers will be limited to one entry per category.
8. Depending on the number and type of submissions, FLORIDA TODAY reserves the right to rearrange or subdivide categories.
9. Films must be received by FLORIDA TODAY no later than July 31. Voting will begin Aug. 17 at floridatoday.com.
(Separate forms must be submitted for each film entered; filmmakers may enter one film per category)
