Bitten A Little Late...

\"\"\"\"\"http://imagecache.allposters.com/images/pic/PYREU/PP31638~Twilight-Posters.jpg\"

A while ago I wrote an article about the Twilight phonemenon and it\'s glory. To avoid any biases, I did not read any of the books to keep my article neutral and fair. A few weeks ago I was in the library, as I was walking aisle to aisle searching for a summer novel to read, Twilight somehow caught my attention. I grabbed it, and checked it out. All of these thoughts rushed through my head as I finally held the book millions of people worshiped.

When I arrived home I found a nice, quiet, and cozy area to read this novel. When my eyes glanced upon the first chapter, I had become hooked. Page after page I read, finding myself entranced into this mystical world of the love between a human and a vampire. Twilight was like my new hobby everyday, until I finished it.

Sadly, as the book came to a close I returned it to the library and suddenly realized-there are three more books in this series! Before I decided to check out the next book, I wanted to watch the movie to stay true to my article and prove my point. I rented the movie, and I was ecstatic that it stayed true to the novel. Robert Pattinson(Edward Cullen), and Kristen Stewart(Isabella Swan) had great screen chemistry, and brought the characters everyone had fallen in love with, brilliantly to life.

Even though I was bitten by the series a little later than everyone else, I enjoy it very much. This new saga will always be a favorite of teenage literature, as well as adult literature. Stephenie Meyer did a brilliant job with this series, I cannot wait to enjoy more of her books.

If only my life was a musical . . .

\"blog
(For clarification purposes, it\'s 11:30 pm on Friday)

Five hours ago I was standing backstage in a poodle skirt with about 15 other similarly dressed girls, getting ready to sing the beginning to Titusville High School\'s opening night production of Bye Bye Birdie. Twenty five hours ago, I was leaving a super long rehearsal wondering if everything would work out the next day. And three months ago, I decided to be an extra/chorus member in my school\'s musical. Great decision, self. This has been such a fantastic senior year adventure.

I\'m so glad I allowed my friends to convince me to participate in the musical even though I had never acted, danced, or sung in anything. It\'s been so interesting learning about all of the different aspects of theater and music, and I\'ve learned a lot through this experience. I can now sing, dance, and act on a rudimentary level. I also appreciate how much work a musical really is; it has to be a series of perfectly timed interactions between the actors, stage crew, and pit orchestra. However, it\'s magic when everything comes together.

I know I always do this, but: If you have even the slightest interest in drama, grab a couple friends and audition for the school play. It\'ll be a good time. I\'m a ridiculous 50\'s teen girl obsessed over an Elvis type singer (Conrad Birdie) who sings/dances/gushes over Conrad and emphatically screams her one line, and it is so much fun. I\'ve become close with members of the cast, increased my self confidence and ability to express myself, and developed an appreciation for theater. What could be better?

How about signing an autograph? (Admittedly, it was just one little boy who was getting signatures from the entire cast. But still, it felt good)

P.S. To all of my fellow Titusvillians and North Brevardians, come see the show! It\'s showing on Saturday at 7:00 pm and Sunday at 2:00 pm, It\'s at Titusville High School and tickets are $8.

Spring Broke?

Today marked the last day of school for Spring Break to begin. Spring Break normally means theme parks, cruises, elaborate trips, etc. The downside of this Spring Break,is that no one really has the extra funds to do anything!

Over the school year most students look forward to Spring Break, but not so much this year. With our economy going down the drain, no one wants to spend an \"X\"-amount of money on miscellanious trips or items. This Spring Break look for students to either be at home studying for AP tests, or hanging out at the beach.

It is sad that Spring Break has come to this result. A week off from school is well deserved, but what are you going to do? Here are some alternatives for a less-expensive Spring Break: go to the movies instead of a theme park, go to a show that is playing at your local theater, go camping with your family, catch up on all the new Best Sellers, you can even go to your local pool instead of a water park!

Even though this Spring Break is not like the ones before, you can make the best out of it!

Earth Hour 2009

\"blog
It\'s short notice, but there really is something everyone\'s got to know about.

This \"something\" is Earth Hour 2009, a worldwide effort to help preserve the environment and stop the looming giant that is global warming. Last year, 50 million people all over the world participated, but this year, the goal is 1 billion.

How can you participate? Simple.
On Saturday, March 28th, from 8:30-9:30pm, turn off your lights.
Spend the hour stargazing, having a moonlit party or picnic on the beach... Do whatever you feel like, as long as the lights are off!

You might just think you\'re just one person and that it won\'t make a difference, but every little bit counts.
Spread the word!

Should Radar Detector Be Legal???

\"blog
Look around and you\'ll start seeing them EVERYWHERE! I heard a crazy statistic somewhere that around 10% of Florida residents have a radar detector of some kind. Though Canada has outlawed the use of radar detectors completely, including several other countries in Europe, they are only illegal in the US in Washington DC and Virginia.

On the plus side for radar detectors, we all speed, often unconsciously. If going 58 in a 50 by accident, a radar detector could serve as a friendly reminder to watch your speed and become aware of your surroundings. Furthermore, many people say that radar detectors actually make them a safer driver. The majority of people with these devices say that they do not intend to break the law and \"slide under the radar\" but merely use it as a means of safety.

Conversely, those apposed to radar detectors say that it is unjust and unethical, as it is simply a clever way to get out of a speeding ticket. It\'s fighting technology with technology and allows speeders to get away undetected. Also, because radar detectors save so many people out of paying hefty fines, states are losing money.

So you decide, should radar detectors be legal or illegal and do the people have the right to know what\'s around the corner?
